This code of conduct applies to all members of the Squamish Gravel Cycling Club, including riders, coaches, event organizers, and officials, volunteers, and others.
This code of conduct outlines what is expected of members and event participants.
The Squamish Gravel Cycling Club (referred to below as SGCC) is committed to the pursuit of good sport and ensuring that the sport of cycling is practiced in a safe and fair manner.
- SGCC has a zero-tolerance policy for disrespecting other members regardless of gender, ethnic or racial origin, sexual orientation, age, marital status, religion, disability or economic status.
- SGCC welcomes riders of all experience and ability.
- No doping, no fascists, no jerks.
Members must:
- Promote and perpetuate positive morale and inclusivity regarding all forms of cycling and fellow cyclists.
- Demonstrate a spirit of good sportsmanship, and strive, wherever possible, to protect the health and safety of fellow participants.
- Wear a helmet and reflect all road/general cycling safety regulations/ laws.
- Have a regularly serviced/maintained bicycle to ensure the safety of themselves and those around them.
- Maintain or enhance the dignity and self-esteem of all athletes, officials, event organizers, coaches, managers, volunteers, and others by:
- communicating about the sport of cycling and other athletes, coaches, officials, team managers, and sport governing bodies in a moderate and constructive manner.
- When riding outside of sanctioned events, become an ambassador for the sport of cycling, by respecting the rules of the road, and acting in a respectful and courteous manner to other cyclists, motorists, and pedestrians.
Any members not adhering to the code of conduct, will be ejected from the club, and banned from all future meetings, rides, and events.
I have read and understood the above statements and agree to conduct myself in a manner that abides by the standards established in this code of conduct and SGCC policy.
